How to find out or check

To check where a link or URL redirects to, you can use a tool called a “HTTP header checker” or “HTTP status code checker”. There are several online tools available that can perform this task for you. Here are the steps to use one of these tools:

Step 1

  1. Go to an online HTTP header checker tool such as https://link-tracker.com/.
  2. Enter the URL you want to check in the input field provided.
  3. Click on the “Check” button.
  4. The tool will then display the HTTP status code of the URL and the final destination URL if there was a redirect.

Step 2

Alternatively, you can use the browser developer tools to check where a link or URL redirects to. Here are the steps to use the developer tools in Google Chrome:

  1. Right-click on the link or URL you want to check.
  2. Select “Inspect” or “Inspect element” from the context menu.
  3. This will open the developer tools panel. Click on the “Network” tab.
  4. Click on the link or URL in the webpage.

The developer tools panel will now show the HTTP request and response information. Look for the “Status” column in the network log, which will display the HTTP status code of the URL. If there was a redirect, you can also check the “Location” header in the “Response Headers” section to see where the URL redirects to.
